"Sir Jerome, to build a fast, reliable system that's accessible on your laptops and other PCs, here is the hardware setup we will need."
What is this? This is a computer whose only job is to run our system. It should not be used for other daily tasks (like cashiering or browsing) to ensure stability.
Uptime: While it's optional, we highly recommend keeping this PC on 24/7. This ensures the system is always available for your laptops and other devices.
Specs: A Mini PC is perfect for this. We recommend these minimum specifications:
Regarding the Monitor: A monitor, keyboard, and mouse are required for the initial setup. However, for daily 24/7 operation, the monitor can be kept turned off to save power. You only need to turn it on when we need to perform direct maintenance or checks on the server itself.
Alternative: A standard desktop or an old laptop (which has a built-in battery backup) can also work if it meets the specs.
What is this? This will create our private, internal WiFi network for the server, your laptops, and other devices.
Clarification (Modem vs. Router): The box from your ISP (like PLDT or Converge) is the Modem. We need to add this separate WiFi Router. We will plug this new router into your modem. This router is what creates our reliable local network.
Internet: Even without internet, the system will work internally. But we must connect this router to your modem's internet for the "Time Check" (security) and "Supplier Sync" (online) features.
Recommended Brands: TP-Link or ASUS are highly reliable. Tenda is a good budget option.
One (1) LAN Cable: To connect the Server PC directly to our new WiFi Router. This connection is much more stable than using WiFi for the server.
What is this? This is a battery backup. We strongly recommend getting two *types*:
When is this needed? If your counter and production area are far apart and the WiFi signal from the main router becomes weak for your laptops.
What is this? We will place a "Repeater" or "Access Point" in the area with the weak signal. This will boost the WiFi and ensure the devices there still have a strong, fast connection to the server.
Just to clarify, the system is designed to be accessed from any device with a web browser. This includes your laptops, other desktop PCs, and even mobile phones. As long as the device is connected to the same private WiFi network we set up, it will be able to connect to the server and use the system.
Check the box if the item exists. Type the specific model or notes in the text box. This syncs live for all users.
This is the recommended setup. Click the View button for a sample.
